OSAKA: AirAsia X Bhd (AAX), the long haul arm of Asia’s biggest low cost carrier, will operate four weekly flights from Kuala Lumpur to Honolulu, Hawaii via Osaka starting from June 28.
Promotional fares from RM499 for bookings made between Feb 11 and Feb 26 for travel period from June 28 to Feb 6, 2018.
Premium flatbed option starts from RM2,999.
On Jan 24, AAX announced that received clearance from the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) to fly to any destination in the US, making its foray into an entirely new market as it looks beyond the Asia Pacific.
“We wish to thank all relevant authorities and governments for their support. Their vote of confidence made today’s unique route launch possible and we will continue to work closely with all parties to ensure we can connect more people through this flagship intercontinental route,” he added.
AAX said guests transiting in Osaka do not require a Japanese visa during the two-hour stopover, and can return to their seats on the flight after clearing security with any carry-on luggage or belongings.
It added that guests can also make use of AirAsia’s Fly-Thru service to connect seamlessly to Honolulu from other cities within AirAsia and AAX’s extensive flight network with just one additional stop.
Alternatively, guests who want greater flexibility in travel planning can opt for the multi-city option, which allows them to spend a few days in Osaka (Japanese visa required) before travelling onwards to Honolulu.
