Discounted tickets plus lots of goodies, a wheelie contest that could win you a stylish Benelli, a sponsored ‘sahur’ and lots of other attractions await motor racing fans when Sepang International Circuit (SIC) rolls out its World Superbike Championship (WSBK) roadshow at the end of this month.
Headlined as the SIC Zoomers-WSBK Roadshow, the programme will run for three weekends from 26 June throughout the fasting month - beginning in Kuala Lumpur, before making stops in Shah Alam, Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, Klang, Putrajaya, Genting Highlands, Johor Bahru and Melaka.
“This being the fasting month, scheduled activities will start at night from 9pm, with the SIC Zoomers making stops at selected popular eating places and running overnight up until 5am, offering perfect timing for ‘makan sahur’ with motorsport fans. The programme will be packed with activities that appeal to fans, especially the wheelie contest. It is going to be a very exciting programme that motorsports fans will definitely enjoy,” said SIC Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Razlan Razali.
Offering an awesome Benelli TNT 600 GP Edition machine worth RM33,000 as the thrilling prize, the WSBK Wheelie Challenge will require participants to perform a wheelie for more than 20 seconds for an opportunity to appear among the finalists who will compete against each other at the final round in Sepang at the eni FIM World Superbike Championship Malaysian Round.
Sepang hosts Round 10 of this season’s 13-leg eni FIM World Superbike Championship from 31 July to August 2. It will be the second edition to be hosted by SIC after a successful inaugural event last year - that pulled in more than 30,000 spectators for the race.
“We are confident of a bigger success for the 2015 event. After the first race last year, local fans are now more familiar with the event. We have also lined up a host of promotional activities including the WSBK roadshow and a special wildcard programme featuring a legendary rider,” Dato’ Razlan said.
“Fans visiting the SIC Zoomers-WSBK Roadshow can get tickets at a 50 percent discount and the opportunity to participate in various activities conducted at the event including a free ‘makan sahur’ and the wheelie challenge,” Dato’ Razlan shared, adding that there would be fun games and quizzes for fans to win instant prizes in the form of free tickets and exclusive merchandise for the 2015 eni FIM World Superbike Championship Malaysian Round.
After various locations in the Klang Valley this weekend including Dataran Merdeka, Dataran Shah Alam, Alam Sentral, Sunway Mentari and Uptown Cheras, the roadshow will head south next weekend, stopping in Johor Bahru on 3 and 4 July – with appearances at Bazaar Karat, Restoran Singgah Selalu, Pandan City, Dataran Johor Baharu, Banafee Village and Danga Bay.
The Zoomers will then proceed to Melaka for a one-day promotion on 5 July - meeting motorsport fans at Jonker Walk, Asam Pedas Claypot and Dataran Majlis Bandaraya Melaka Bersejarah.
For the final weekend between 10 and 12 July, the roadshow will visit selected areas in the Klang Valley, including in Putrajaya and Downtown The Mines, as also head to Awana Genting,
