1.6mil LED lights illuminate Taman Jubli Emas in Alor Star

ALOR STAR: More than 1.6 million LED bulbs are lighting up the festive atmosphere in Kedah as the Luna Lights Wonderland event makes its debut in Alor Star under the Visit Kedah Year 2025 (VK2025) campaign.

Held for the first time at Taman Jubli Emas here, the month-long light-themed attraction is open nightly from 7pm to midnight until May 4.

Spanning seven to eight acres, the showcase offers a dazzling visual experience for visitors of all ages.

State Tourism, Culture, Arts and Entrepreneurship Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Salleh Saidin said the event not only adds colour to the festive season but also serves as a major draw for domestic tourism.

"This event could not have come at a better time. It livens up our Aidilfitri celebrations and contributes significantly to the excitement of Visit Kedah Year 2025.

"This entire area is beautifully lit, with more than 1.6 million LED lights creating a magical atmosphere.

"Visitors can take photos, and I believe the memories made here will stay with them for a long time," he told reporters at the launch yesterday.

Salleh said the event is expected to attract between 80,000 and 100,000 visitors, with promotions targeting neighbouring states such as Perlis, Penang and Perak.

He said it had long been his wish to bring the award-winning attraction to the capital and thanked the organisers for making it a reality.

Salleh also reminded the public to play their part in maintaining cleanliness and protecting the installations to ensure a pleasant experience for all.

"Tourism is a dynamic sector, and it requires collective support from all sectors — from government agencies to private companies and the people of Kedah themselves," he added.

Meanwhile, Luna Lights Wonderland's business and development manager Nabilah Afifah Mohd Fekeri said the Alor Star edition is the first to feature seven thematic zones.

"For your information, this time we're presenting seven main themes because the size of the park is large.

"Compared to the previous edition in Jitra, which showcased only five, we've added two more here — a cat-themed zone and a mysterious 'Forest Steam' area using mist effects," she said.

She said the number of light bulbs had also increased, from 1.2 million in Jitra to 1.6 million in the Alor Star showcase.

As part of its outreach initiative, 30,000 complimentary tickets are being distributed to selected primary schools around Alor Star in collaboration with the State Economic Planning Unit (BPEN).
