KUALA LUMPUR: Holders of Hong Leong Bank MATTA credit card will be able to use their cards for special privileges at the 32nd Malaysian Association of Travel and Tours (MATTA) Fair 2011 next weekend. MATTA Fair organising chairman John Tan said cardholders could use their cards to gain free entry via the VIP express lane for themselves and a guest each.
“Holders of the Eon Bank MATTA credit card issued last year can also use their cards at the fair.
“Since Hong Leong bought Eon Bank, the Eon Bank cards are still valid until they are renewed,” Tan said at a press conference. Hong Leong Bank unsecured lending and personal financial services general manager Margaret Then said the MATTA credit cards offered a complete package which complemented the travel needs of cardholders. “Cardholders will receive free travel accident and inconvenience benefits of up to RM2mil when they charge their travel purchases to the MATTA credit card. “They can also enjoy free access to the Plaza Premium Lounges at KLIA, LCCT, Senai and Changi Airports.
“Furthermore, cardholders get rewarded with 1% cash back when they shop overseas. Counters will be set up at the MATTA Fair to register new applicants, who will be entitled for free entry,” said Then, adding there were currently 1,000 existing cardholders. The target is to register at least 3,000 new cardholders by the end of the fair. Other benefits are triple MATTA points for every RM1 spent, gift redemption for purchases of RM500 and above in a single receipt as well as 0% interest instalment plans for up to 12 months. Cardholders will also be able to use the MATTA premium lounge to take a break between shopping for travel deals.
MATTA president Datuk Khalid Harun was confident of achieving the sales target of RM100mil at the fair. “Conditions are conducive for travel. The economy is good and the momentum of the travel industry is increasing. Airlines are buying new planes to cope with all the travellers,” said Khalid. He added that the fair was a much-awaited event by avid travellers for the packages offered by banks, airlines and travel agents. “We have good brands and products. The public's confidence in the MATTA Fair is on the rise and it's gaining popularity in the Philippines and Indonesia,” he added. The MATTA Fair will be held from Aug 12 to 14 in Halls 1, 2 and 3 of the Putra World Trade Centre here.
