AirAsia X's maiden flight from Kuala Lumpur to Mauritius landed at the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport. |
Its inaugural flight on Tuesday saw its Airbus A330-300 flying at the full capacity of 377 passengers, landing at the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport here.
During the launching ceremony AirAsia X Bhd chairman Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz said the three-time weekly flight to Mauritius will provide some 57,200 seats annually.
"This will certainly boost tourism to Mauritius and also out of Mauritius to the rest of the region," she said.
After a water salute for the maiden flight, a celebratory event was held for the arrival of the maiden flight.
The budget airline group announced special all-in-fares from as low as RM199 one-way on standard seats and from RM1,599 one-way for its premium flatbeds.
The promotional fares will be available for booking online from Oct 5 to Oct 9 at airasia.com as well as its mobile app on iPhone and Android devices and the mobile site mobile.airasia.com, with the travel period from Oct 5 this year to March 31 next year.
It will fly on a frequency of three times a week. Flight D7 006 from Kuala Lumpur to Mauritius flies on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday while flight D7 007 from Mauritius to Kuala Lumpur operates on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.-thestar online.
