KUWAIT CITY: Investors from Kuwait are willing to look into high-end investments in Kuala Lumpur, such as establishing boutique hotels to cater to jet-setting tourists from the Middle East and other parts of the world. Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen said Kuwaitis had expressed their willingness to invest in the tourism industry, provided they have a clear picture on the bureaucratic procedures for foreigners and the return of investment.
“At present, Malaysia is not well represented here in terms of luring wealthy Arabs to invest in our tourism. France and India have beaten us to this. It is time we look into luring the rich and wealthy to our country, which is a microcosm of Asia. “They (Arabs) are very excited about setting up boutique hotels,” she said after paying a courtesy call on Kuwait's Minister of Commerce and Industry Ahmad Rashed Haroun yesterday. Dr Ng said education and wellness tourism packages could also be bolstered with Arab investments.
