KLIA, 8 July 2020: As Malaysia Airlines, Firefly and MASwings take to the skies once more in the new normal, airlines under the Malaysia Aviation Group unveiled the 'Fly Confidently' campaign, to raise public awareness on the health and safety measures taken by the Group. The campaign provides passengers with a new set of clear and concise infographic guidelines and resources on each respective airline's official website and social media platforms.
As part of the Group-wide campaign, Malaysia Airlines today released a 4:21 minute video entitled Fly Confidently, Fly Malaysia on its social media platforms showcasing its passengers on their journey for departure or arrival at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). It begins from home, where passengers perform contactless check-in through the airline’s mobile app or website, followed by a walkthrough of the enhanced safety and health measures at Malaysia Airlines’ main hub in KLIA.
The video also features heightened safety and public health measures by Malaysia Airlines in collaboration with Malaysia Airports Berhad (MAHB), Immigration, and Customs departments at several customer touchpoints. These include check-in counters, Immigration and Customs areas, Golden Lounges, boarding gate, in-flight, and baggage collection areas.
The measures highlighted in the video, comply to the guidelines set by international and local regulatory bodies, namely the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), World Health Organization (WHO), International Air Transport Association (IATA), and Ministry of Health of Malaysia (MOH), which are customized to the airline's requirements in facilitating travel under the new normal. They include:
- Educating passengers on the latest requirements through various communication channels;
- Imposing social and physical distancing rules wherever possible;
- Requiring passengers to wear face coverings or masks at all times;
- Heightening the routine sanitation of the self-service kiosks, check-in counters, airline and airport facilities;
- Health screening using thermal scanners via contactless thermometers; and
- Displaying the COVID-19 monitoring app MySejahtera QR code, for passengers to update their information.
Malaysia Aviation Group Chief Executive Officer, Captain Izham Ismail shared, "The safety and wellbeing of our passengers and employees are important to us. Hence, we introduced the Fly Confidently campaign to educate the traveling public on the health and safety measures that we have put in place to travel safely from pre-flight right up to arrival. Under this campaign we produced a series of communication resources such as infographics, travel checklist, and advisories which are available on our website. Passengers can also refer to these materials to understand the steps they can take to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. The video launched today is the latest addition to our campaign and was produced in-house by our MAG talents. It details a step-by-step walkthrough of a passenger journey from home with contactless check-in via our mobile app or website, followed by the enhanced safety and health measures we have adopted at the airport and on board our flights.
From 15 July 2020, Malaysia Airlines is pleased to provide passengers travelling on its flights a complimentary hygiene kit, consisting of a face mask, a sachet of hand sanitiser and sanitising wipe. This is in line with our attribute as a caring airline, giving customers full confidence that we have taken all necessary steps to safeguard their well-being throughout their journey, in accordance with international best practices and recommendations.”
Firefly also handed out free Limited Edition Enrich Hygiene Kits comprised of masks and hand sanitiser to all Enrich members and Firefly passengers during its recent flights from Subang to Penang, Langkawi, Kota Bharu, Kuala Terengganu, Johor Bahru, Kuantan, and Alor Setar.
