Tourism Malaysia Participates In Pakistan Travel Mart (PTM) With VISIT MALAYSIA 2020 Campaign

KARACHI, PAKISTAN, 8 OCTOBER 2018: Malaysia is bringing its food and cultural attractions to entice more Pakistani tourists to the country. The effort is being made during Tourism Malaysia’s participation in the 3rd Pakistan Travel Mart (PTM) from today until 10 October 2019 at the Karachi Expo Centre.

At Pakistan Travel Mart, a total of 20 Malaysian organizations are stationed under the Malaysia Pavilion, comprising of travel agents, tourism product owners, hoteliers, cultural troupe as well as senior officials from Tourism Malaysia. As part of its promotion, a cultural troupe from Malaysia will be performing for audiences and greeting guests at the Malaysian booth during PTM 2019.

Tourism Malaysia is using PTM 2019 as a platform to promote the Visit Malaysia 2020 campaign to international attendees, increase the awareness and interest of tourists and travel agents from Pakistan of the exciting potential that Malaysia presents as the preferred travel destination in Asia to renew Malaysia’s commitment and support for the Pakistani travel industry in their efforts to promote Malaysia; to keep the Pakistani counterparts abreast of recent tourism developments in Malaysia; and to establish a wider network of contacts in the Pakistani tourism industry.

It is a timely initiative for Malaysia to take part in PTM 2019 and leverage on the upcoming Pakistan Airlines re-establishment of the Islamabad-Kuala Lumpur route on 14 October which flies twice a week on Boeing 777 with 518 weekly seat capacity. It joins Malindo Airlines which brings travellers to Kuala Lumpur via Lahore five times a week with a total seat capacity of 900.

Malaysia’s diverse tourist attractions such as islands and beaches, shopping and theme parks, cultures, delicious local food, thick rainforests, warm climate, and luxury experiences, offer Pakistani tourists a pleasurable tropical holiday at highly reasonable prices at any time of the year.

In 2019, Malaysia was yet again named the top Muslim Travel Destination 2019 by Mastercard & Crescent Ratings 2019 Global Muslim Travel Index. Malaysia also enjoys an outstanding international reputation as a healthcare and wellness destination, having been consistently recognised in industry programmes including the Medical Travel Journal (IMTJ) Medical Travel Awards. Moreover, Kuala Lumpur was ranked 6th in the list of most visited cities in 2018 based on the Mastercard Global Destination Cities Index 2019 report.

Malaysia recorded 74,458 tourist arrivals from Pakistan in 2018, a growth of 39.3% compared to the same period last year. Up until June this year, Malaysia received 45,509 tourists from Pakistan, an increase of 30.9% compared to the same period last year.
