Watch the sunset over the Sulu sea at Kudat's Sunset Music Fest

KUDAT: The Sunset Music Fest at Simpang Mengayau, Kudat, is set to return for the 10th year come June 4.

The open air music concert is considered as one of Sabah’s unique events given its unconventional venue, offering the audience a spectacular natural backdrop of the sun setting over the Sulu and South China seas.

In the five-hour show, which begins at 5pm, there will be a host of performers presenting a broad repertoire of music and songs from various genres.

Kudat is a three-hour drive or 30-minute flight away from the state capital of Kota Kinabalu.

The district has several places of interest such as the Rungus longhouse, honey bee farm and gong-making village.

Visitors can also taste the barbequed corns by locals sold along the road of Kota Marudu while en route to Simpang Mengayau.

The district is also gaining popularity for surfing, where enthusiasts can hit good waves as high as 2.5 meters during the south-western monsoon from June to August.

Tickets for the music festival are sold at RM50 per person, with a additional RM20 for return transportation from Kota Kinabalu to the venue.

For reservation and tickets purchase, contact the Sabah Tourism Board at +6088212121 or visit the website at www.sunsetmusicfest.my.
