DRIVE M7 SIC Racing Team Conclude Productive Jerez Test In Positive Spirits

Spain – Friday 4th March
Circuit: Circuito de Jerez
Circuit Length: 4.4 km
Bike #84 Jakub Kornfeil – (Best time):1’47.589 (Total laps):44
Bike #7 Adam Norrodin – (Best time):1’49.570 (Total laps):36
DRIVE M7 SIC Racing Team today concluded the third and final day of official testing at the Circuito de Jerez in Spain, feeling positive with their progress made.
Misty and cold conditions saw a slow start to proceedings, with the majority of the Moto3 field choosing to sit out of the morning session. As the sun began to shine and the track temperature increased for session two, Jakub Kornfeil and Adam Norrodin wasted no time getting back to work, focussing their attentions on optimising the set-up of their Honda NSF 250RW machinery and continuing to improve their rhythm around the Spanish circuit.
Despite not be able to better their times from yesterday, the DRIVE M7 SIC Racing Team duo worked hard to put in the laps, setting them up well for the final pre-season test in Qatar next week.
With the start of the World Championship rapidly approaching, the riders will return to action at the Losail International Circuit, with another trio of test days commencing on Friday 11th March.
Johan Stigefelt – Team Manager
“We have completed this IRTA test in Jerez and we leave here with a lot more knowledge of the Honda, which is very good. We needed this test to get more accustomed to the NSF 250RW and to see which direction to go in with changes. We are not 100% ready but we have learned a lot over the last three days. The Qatar test will be very important. So far both riders are doing well. Adam has worked very hard and has done a good job for his first official test in Moto3. Jakub has also proved over the last two days that he can again be fast and put in good lap times consistently alone; he is enjoying riding the Honda a lot more now and also we are faster here than last year, so this is very positive. The same with Adam, he likes the bike too and his confidence is growing; we maybe went off track a bit with him today but nevertheless we have worked through a lot with him and we know he can improve more in Qatar.”
#84 Jakub Kornfeil
“It was difficult losing the first practice today because of the weather, but then conditions improved and we were able to make some fast laps consistently. We worked on some new parts that we received from Honda and I think again we have gained more understanding of the bike and also I feel a lot more comfortable. I think we have to be very happy with the job we have done here; we are not in the top five yet but we are really close. Our rhythm is there and I think we are well prepared for Qatar. In Qatar we need to make that next step to give us the higher positions. Overall with these three days I am happy and already looking forward to test the bike more; I’m starting to enjoy riding the Honda a lot and this is very important.”
#7 Adam Norrodin
“This morning the weather was not so good, so we decided to wait for conditions to improve. In the afternoon, the second session was much better. Our setting from yesterday was working well, so we decided to try the softer tyre. Near the end of the session I was on a good lap, when unfortunately another rider hit me from behind and I lost some time; still it was my fastest lap of the day, but I know I could have done better. I was hoping to continue my progress in the last practice but the wind started to pick up; we also decided to use only the medium tyre, so I couldn’t improve any further. We still need more time to learn the bike and also to help make my riding perfect, so I’m very happy that we have three more test days in Qatar; I think we can do much better there.”
