SIC Organises All Year-Long Programmes To Promote WSBK, F1 And MOTOGP

Thursday, 17 March 2016 - Taking motorsports excitement to an unprecedented level, Sepang International Circuit (SIC) is organizing a year-long promotional nationwide programme of the world’s three biggest motor racing events – the 2016 Motul FIM Superbike World Championship (WSBK), 2016 Formula 1 Malaysia Grand Prix™ (F1) and Shell Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix 2016 (MOTOGP).

Leading the promotion exercise will be the mobile SIC Zoomers whose programmes will include live viewing of the races at selected locations where fans can gather and cheer for their favourite teams and racers while having the opportunity to win attractive prizes as well.

“Prizes to be won include race tickets and limited event merchandise. Special discounted tickets to watch the WSBK, F1 and MotoGP at Sepang will also be on offer at the SIC Zoomers’ live viewing sessions as well as its roadshows.

“We are happy to note that the first two WSBK live viewings round saw huge attendance from bike enthusiasts to support Fahmi and to watch their favorite team in action.

“Apart from providing enjoyment for the fans, the live viewing sessions make effective platforms for fans of all races to catch what’s happening with the championship, who’s leading, who’re the top teams as well as in creating excitement for these races. These sessions are great for existing fans and are even better for newbies to the race to understand what the race is all about,” SIC Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Razlan Razali said in a statement today.

With the 2016 Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix this weekend, Dato’ Razlan said that the immediate focus is naturally for the event with the next live viewing session scheduled at Gridiron Sports Bar & Lounge in Bangsar to catch Round 1 of the Formula 1, which will be held in Melbourne, Australia.

“This will be followed with Round 3 of 2016 Motul FIM Superbike World Championship at The Podium in Sri Hartamas, which will be contested in Aragon, Spain respectively on 3rd April. Full details of the live viewing sessions and all our promotion programmes are readily available at our website and Facebook page,” Dato’ Razlan said, adding that all attention would then be shifted to the track for Round 6 in Sepang.

Dato’Razlan, who is a former rider and die-hard motorsport fan, added that the WSBK and MotoGP round are very special to the circuit.

“For these two world championships, we called out to all two-wheel enthusiasts to come and #supportfahmi63 for WSBK and the Drive M7 SIC Racing Team for MotoGP from home to join us and catch the riders racing against the world champions while enjoying themselves,” he said.

Supported by SIC, Fahmi is competing in the World Supersports Championship with Orelac Racing Team. As reflected by its name, the Drive M7 SIC Racing Team is the circuit’s entry in the Moto3 World Championship with riders Malaysian Adam Norrodin and Jakub Kornfeil of Republic Czech.

Dato’Razlan said: “At the live sessions, which will be organised by our roving SIC Zoomers’ brigade, fans can participate in our ‘Watch & Win contest’ where they can use their knowledge and expertise in guessing the top three podium winners and win a pair of tickets to catch the race in Sepang.

Fans can also participate in the F1 Simulator whee the best timed contestant would win free race tickets. There’s also the ‘Best Team Wear’ contest where whoever comes with the best look of their favorite team would win race tickets and other attractive prizes,” he added.

While the 2016 Motul FIM Superbike World Championship (WSBK) Malaysian round would be held from May 13 to 15, the 2016 Formula 1 Malaysia Grand Prix™ (F1) will be staged at SIC from September 30 to October 2. This will be followed by the 26th edition of the Shell Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix 2016, which is scheduled from October 28 to 30.
