Midsummer Nights Feast pays tribute to five elements of nature

Starhill Gallery’s fourth edition of the Midsummer Nights Feast returns this year in Feast Village from July 1 to 8, themed Master Chefs of the Five Elements. This exciting gourmet festival will once again bring the best of culinary arts to Kuala Lumpur. Famous star-crowned chefs of the international gourmet scene will be there to pamper your taste buds at Shook! restaurant along with the award-winning chefs from the Feast Village restaurants. The annual event features a host of treats for those looking for a special wine-and-dine experience, paired with music and entertainment.

Look east: Soft shell crab maki and California maki available at Gonbei San during the Midsummer Nights Feast.

This year’s theme pays tribute to the five elements of creative powers with different culinary concepts every night, namely earth, water, air, fire and space. These will include “Tribute to Mother Earth” by three-star Michelin Chef Benoit Vidal from France (July 6 and 7), “Land of Omniscient Waters” featuring two-star Michelin Chef Moshik Roth from the Netherlands (July 4 and 5), “A Breath of Fresh Mountain Air” masterminded by chef Manabu Ogawa from Pirka signature restaurant in Hilton Niseko Village, Japan (July 1 to 7), “Inspired Interpretations of Space” created by YTL corporate chef Wai (July 2) and “Celebration of Culinary Passion”, which will showcase creations of Master Chef Jason Koppinger from the United States. There will also be a Midsummer Nights Feast “Five Elements” Gala Night on July 8 and “Five Elements” Brunch on July 3.

Sinfully sweet: Strawberry Cheese Cake from Jake’s Charbroil Steaks available during the feast.

“The Midsummer Nights Feast this year will be better than ever, focusing on top quality cuisines from around the world complemented with international live jazz performances from the Jeremy Tordjman Group during the event,” said Starhill Gallery PR and marketing director Yulia Dolmatova. The Midsummer Nights Feast will also host culinary and food activities for underprivileged children from the House of Joy on July 2 from 9am to 1.30pm, as part of their “Joy to World Community Services” throughout Malaysia.

Twelve participating restaurants from Feast Village will feature special items on their menus during the week-long event. Some of the decadent dishes that will be featured are Poached Grey Spotted Grouper, Momotaro Tomato stuffed Flower Crab Mousse and Basil Pesto as well as Celeriac Cream Soup with Pumpkin Tempura from Fisherman’s Cove, Crab and Prawn Meatballs and Abalone Platter from Pak Loh Chiu Chow and Ayam Gulung Nasi Dagang Gulai from Enak.
