MORE than 50,000 tourists are expected to participate in the “Belanja dan Bercuti” campaign organised by Pen Petroleum Sdn Bhd (PenPec) with the collaboration of the Association of Tourism Attractions, Penang (Atap).
The campaign is on until Feb 28 at 60 selected Caltex stations with Xpress Point stores in peninsular Malaysia.
The campaign is to support the local government’s initiative to promote Penang’s tourism industry and is the first partnership between PenPec and Atap.
Penang Tourism Development, Heritage, Culture and Arts Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin said as part of the campaign, the 60 Caltex stations with Xpress Point stores will give away 100,000 vouchers for various tourist attractions and local souvenir shops to customers who spend RM50 and above.
The eight tourist attractions and retailers participating in the campaign are Entopia, Tropical Spice Garden, Tropical Fruit Farm, The Habitat, Teddyville Museum, Magination, Penang 3D Trick Art Museum and Ghee Hiang.
Besides that, Caltex customers also stand to win 20 gift cards worth RM250 each and 15 attractive mystery prizes through the Count & Win online contest.
“The state government is aiming for more than 50,000 tourists to visit Penang through this promotion,” Yeoh told a press conference during the launch of the campaign at the Permatang Pauh Caltex Station.
Also present were PenPec group director Datuk Abdul Rahim Darus, general manager Saw Siam Ching, deputy group general manager Saw Mei Yee, Chevron Malaysia retail district manager (north & east coast) Faizah Abdul Samad and Atap chairman Ch’ng Hock Theng.
Yeoh said the Penang government would organise more promotions with the cooperation of various parties to promote places in the state.
