IPOH, Aug 19 (Bernama) -- The Perak government will carry out more tourism promotional efforts as it targets 5.5 million tourists to the state this year.
State Tourism, Culture, Arts, Communications and Multimedia Committee chairman, Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohammed Radzi said the promotions would be carried out at various events like the Matta Fair in Perak, Melaka and Kuala Lumpuir.
Other events, she said, included the Perak Roadshow in Kelantan and Penang, Johor Travel Fair and the state-level Agrofest.
"Tourism promotion and publicity would also continue through the electronic and print media like Bernama, tourism magazines such as Gaya Travel and Libur, and through Pos Malaysia's special publications," she said at the state assembly sitting, here, today.
Nolee Ashilin was replying to a question from Husin Din (PAS-Selinsing) on the state's targeted tourist arrivals in the first six months of 2015.
She said besides promotional efforts, the state government would also be organising international and national-level events to draw more tourists to the state.
"At the international level, the events include the Perak International Eco-Tourism Event, Festival Puisi dan Lagu Rakyat Antarabangsa Pangkor, Ipoh International Waiters Race, 9th Royal Belum Iron Bound and the Pangkor International Development Dialogue.
