Celcom Axiata Malaysia Open 2017 @ Kuching, Sarawak ( 4 ~ 9 April 2017 )

Rio Olympic was the best result for the Malaysian contingent ever with 3 silver medals. Wanting to bring the Rio memories back alive to the badminton fans, we are proud to present the Celcom Axiata Malaysia Open 2017 at the Perpaduan Stadium in Kuching, Sarawak.
Badminton being one of the main sports in Malaysia has certainly attracted a huge number of fans all over the country. One of the most prestigious badminton tournaments held is the Malaysia Open which has been played since 1937 in various states such as Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, Penang, Selangor and many more.
The event was however interrupted twice from 1942 to 1946 due to World War II, and the second time from 1969 to 1982. Besides it being an important agenda in BAM’s (Badminton Association of Malaysia) calendar, the Malaysia Open is also an event that unites the whole nation together regardless of race and religion.
The highlight of the event is none other than the electrifying atmosphere at the stadium especially when national players are in action. It is so energetic, thrilling and the eager anticipation of the crowd to catch a glimpse of their favorite players is nothing but exhilarating.
The Malaysia Open became one of the BWF Super Series tournaments in 2007 and in 2014, Badminton World Federation (BWF) who is the world governing body confirmed that Malaysia will be only one of five countries in the world to host the top-tier tournament that is the World Superseries Premier. Therefore, it is undoubtedly a proud moment for Malaysia as not all countries have the privilege to host this event, moreover a ‘Premier’ one.
The Celcom Axiata Malaysia Open will be attended by Olympic Champions, World Champions like Cheng Long, Lin Dan, Carolina Marin and especially our national hero / World number one, Datuk Wira Lee Chong Wei. None of the best players in the world ranking will miss this event..! You shouldn’t either..
