PUTRAJAYA, June 14 (Bernama) -- A spectacular parade of 15 flotillas bathed in a myriad of lights, colours and shapes that will cruise through the scenic waterfront at Marina Putrajaya in Preceint 5, is set to be a feast for the eyes.

For nine consecutive nights until June 22, enchanting sights await visitors throughout nine dazzling nights of splendour with the annual Magic of the Night 2014 flotilla parade.

Themed "Colours of Harmony", 15 flotillas bedecked with beautiful sculptures of Malaysia's most famous attractions in a fusion of lights, colours and shapes will sail along a 3-kilometre stretch of the marina at Marina Putrajaya. Set against the nightscape of Putrajaya's distinctive architectural backdrop, the flotillas will be berthed for a static display to give photo opportunity to the public.

The 15 resplendently lighted floats will light up the evening panorama of the federal administrative capital, starting today until 22 June from 8.44 pm to 10.30 pm daily.

Magic of the Night 2014 was launched by Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor at Marina Putrajaya here Saturday night.

The 15 flotillas participating in the parade among others are Johor, Kedah, Melaka, Kelantan, Sabah, Sarawak, Selangor as well as two government agencies - Ministry of Tourism and Culture/Tourism Malaysia and Kuala Lumpur City Hall. They will compete in different categories including Overall Best Boat, Most Creative Boat, Most Popular Boat (public voting) and Best Lighted Boat.

Organised for the fourth year, Magic of the Night 2014 is one of the signature events organised by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture to promote the glorious diversities of nature, culture and traditions of the country.

In his speech, Tengku Adnan said his ministry hopes to become a partner with Ministry of Tourism and Culture to promote Putrajaya as a tourist destination. "We too can contribute to the Tourism Transformation Plan 2020," he said.

The public are invited to come and join in the extravaganza of fun and festivities, which is scheduled to start from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm daily followed by static display of the boats from 9.30 pm to 11.30 pm. Admission is free.
