2016 Formula 1 Petronas Malaysia Grand Prix Concludes On A High

SEPANG, 3 October 2016 – The ever-popular 2016 Formula 1 PETRONAS Malaysia Grand Prix concluded on a high yesterday, as fans at the circuit and around the world got to witness an adrenaline-pumping race with the Mercedes AMG PETRONAS and Red Bull Racing teams battling it out at the circuit in Sepang. Fans also enjoyed a range of activities for all ages organised by Sepang International Circuit (SIC) in line with their Experience Redef1ned theme and took the opportunity to shop for attractive merchandise. The weekend concluded with fans enjoying the After-Race Concert headlined by Usher. Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Najib Tun Razak was among the tens of thousands of fans at the circuit on Sunday.

SIC also used the event as a platform for a good cause, by offering The Ten Ringgit Club space to create awareness on their cause and also display Penan weave-ware at the race weekend. The non-profit organisation, formed to improve the education opportunities of marginalised children in northern Sarawak, also helps generate income for the Penan villagers by offering their weave-ware for sale. Visitors had the opportunity to purchase colourful woven items such as purses, baskets and handbags, ranging from RM20 to RM150. The public were also able to contribute to The Ten Ringgit Club by pledging any amount over RM10 to help fund the education of the marginalised children. The Ten Ringgit Club will also be setting up their booth at the upcoming Shell Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix 2016.

YTL expands portfolio with three UK hotel acquisitions


Malaysia’s YTL Hotels is expanding its portfolio with the recent acquisition of three properties, one each in Edinburgh, Berkshire and London.

The Glasshouse Hotel, located in the heart of Edinburgh, is part of Marriott International’s Autograph Collection.

This acquisition reinforces YTL’s partnership with Marriott, which began in 1995 through the ownership, management and future development of seven properties including JW Marriott Kuala Lumpur and The Ritz-Carlton Koh Samui.

The second property that will come under YTL’s hotel portfolio is Monkey Island in the village of Bray in Berkshire, renowned as the only village in the world with four Michelin-star restaurants and pubs.

YTL also acquired the Academy Hotel in London’s West End. The hotel comprises five restored Georgian townhouses and is a stone’s throw away from The British Museum.

With these, YTL’s global portfolio has increased to 29 assets across Australia, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, China, France, Spain and the UK.

KUALA LUMPUR 2 Okt. - Dalam usaha untuk terus mempromosikan Kampung Baru sebagai destinasi tumpuan rakyat tempatan dan pelancong asing khususnya penggemar makanan, aplikasi ‘Food Heaven Kampong Bharu’ untuk telefon pintar dilancarkan.

Menteri Wilayah Persekutuan, Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor berkata, aplikasi yang mempromosikan kepelbagaian jenis makanan di Kampung Baru itu mengandungi maklumat-maklumat asas berkaitan kemudahan serta pilihan lokasi restoran atau kedai makan terbaik di kawasan tersebut.

Kata Tengku Adnan, aplikasi itu juga membolehkan orang awam membuat penarafan mutu dan kualiti makanan yang terdapat di Kampung Baru.

“Aplikasi itu juga membantu pihak Perbadanan Pembangunan Kampung Baru (PKB) membuat penambahbaikkan dalam pelbagai aspek termasuklah kualiti makanan, kebersihan premis dan sebagainya,” katanya ketika berucap merasmikan Festival Makanan Melayu Kampong Bharu di sini, semalam.

Yang turut hadir Menteri Kewangan II merangkap Ahli Parlimen Titiwangsa, Datuk Johari Abdul Ghani dan Pengerusi PKB, Datuk Affendi Zahari.

Mengulas mengenai penganjuran festival tersebut, Tengku Adnan menyifatkannya sebagai mampu mempertingkatkan sosioekonomi penduduk Kampung Baru selaras dengan hasrat dan agenda memperkasakan ekonomi bumiputera oleh pihak kementerian.
Beliau juga yakin sekiranya festival itu membawa hasil yang diharapkan, kerajaan akan meneruskannya pada tahun-tahun akan datang bagi menambah pendapatan peniaga dan penduduk setempat.

“Festival ini juga mampu me-ningkatkan lagi imej Kampung Baru. Saya berpendapat Kampung Baru mempunyai ramuan yang mencukupi untuk maju ke hadapan setanding dengan kawasan-kawasan lain di ibu negara,” jelas beliau.

Dalam pada itu, Tengku Adnan mencadangkan supaya kawasan pintu gerbang Kampung Baru dijenamakan sebagai ‘The Gerbang’.

“Saya berharap penjenamaan semula kawasan ini akan terus menjadi daya penarik kepada pengunjung ke Kampung Baru,” katanya.

Every year, the Nine Emperor Gods Festival is held for nine days, from the first day to the ninth day of the 9th lunar month. Celebrated by the Taoist community in Penang, the festival features vegetarian food bazaars, floating processions and more.

Finding Life’s Passion with Dr. Jane Goodall

Kampung Morten Cultural & Heritage Guided Walk
Kampung Morten is a traditional Malay riverine village in the country, retaining its old-world charm despite being nestled within the confines of city comforts. It is a truly unique tourist destination that is famous worldwide. The village is regarded as a living museum since many people still practice the traditional Malay lifestyle. Kampung Morten has 85 homes including 52 Melaka traditional dwellings, with traditional features in its home design, decoration and landscape.
This Kampung Morten Cultural & Heritage Guided Walk programme aims to introduce Kampung Morten in Melaka to local and foreign tourists. Through this programme, tourists will be briefed on the history, culture and activities of the people living in the area as they are taken on a guided tour around Kampung Morten.
Six premises, namely Villa Sentosa, 'Rumah Merdeka', 'Homestay Yunus', 'Gerai Nasi Lemak Mak Som', 'Pengusaha Cenderamata Rumah Tradisional' and 'Rumah Mantan Sidang', have been selected to be included in the 90-minute tour which would be held every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
It takes about one and a half hours duration of walking which starts at 4pm until 5.30pm. The free guided walk will be conducted in English and priority is given to free Independent Visitors (FITS) with a maximum participants per session limited to 30 people only.

KL Sky Tour – a bird’s eye view of the city
Visitors to Kuala Lumpur can now get a very different experience by exploring the city from the air with the latest tourism product – The KL Sky Tour. The tour is organised by Chempaka Helicopter Corporation that operates at a site overlooking the popular Titiwangsa Lake off Jalan Tun Razak. The helipad is in a strategic location, easily accessible with a short drive from anywhere in the city.
The KL Sky Tour offers a variety of packages that are very affordable and yet still offer the thrill and excitement of touring the city from the air. There are four tour packages to choose from that vary in terms of time and distance travelled.
