GEORGE TOWN: Many domestic tourists were out in full force after missing out on their nasi kandar dishes in Penang on Friday.

The famous Line Clear Nasi Kandar Restaurant in Penang Road was busy with people lining up for their rice, fried chicken, prawns, fish head and sotong.

On Friday, almost all the nasi kandar restaurants were closed for Hari Raya Haji, depriving fans from other states of their favourite dishes.

Courier company manager Wan Suhaimi Mohd Nor, 35, said he extended his holiday by ano-ther day to taste his all-time favourite ayam goreng at Line Clear. “I was supposed to head back to Sitiawan on Friday but I did not want to miss the nasi kandar here,” said Wan Suhaimi.

Systems analyst Redzuan Abu Bakar, 30, and his family were seen tucking into sotong and beef. “I will never miss the food at Line Clear whenever I travel to Penang from Batu Gajah, Perak. “My wife and kids love the food here and our short holiday would be incomplete without setting foot into Line Clear,” said Redzuan.

Most of the nasi kandar restaurants in town were open yesterday except for a few that will remain closed until Sunday.

A check by The Star showed that traffic was slow-moving in most tourism spots.
Traffic jams were reported at roads leading to the George Town heritage enclave, Tanjung Tokong, Batu Ferringhi and Kek Lok Si Temple.
