DRIVE M7 SIC Racing Team Increase Expectations For Dutch Grand Prix

Assen, Netherlands – Monday 20th June

Circuit: TT Circuit Assen
Circuit Length: 4.5 km
Round eight of the Moto3 World Championship sees the DRIVE M7 SIC Racing Team head to the legendary TT Circuit Assen, in the Netherlands.
Steeped in history the Dutch Grand Prix has played host to the Motorcycle World Championship since it first opened in 1949. Renowned for its electric atmosphere that regularly attracts more than 100,000 fans, Assen provides some of the best spectator viewing from its high grass banks and grandstands that surround the fast and flowing circuit.
After a difficult race weekend in Catalunya, riders Jakub Kornfeil and Adam Norrodin head to Holland with clear goals insight.
Aiming for a top five finish, Jakub Kornfeil is focusing his attentions on improving his qualifying and taking his race result to the next level. Feeling more confident on board his Honda machinery, the Czech rider is motivated for a strong performance at the Dutch circuit.
Hoping to learn the track quickly, Adam Norrodin is eager to get his season back on track after a string of disappointing results and is looking to redeem his previous misfortunes with a point scoring finish.

“I feel good about this next Grand Prix, for sure better than before Barcelona. Assen is a flat track without any hills, so it’s really important to just let the bike flow and don’t stop it so much. A good line is vital; with this everything becomes easy. When you set a good time at Assen it can be hard to continue improving it alone, so this is when you have to use the slipstream.
At the last round in Barcelona we finished in the top ten, which at a track where I usually struggle a lot, was good, but overall top ten is not enough for us. I am looking forward to improving my qualifying at Assen and starting from within the top three rows. Our race target now is always top five. This is what we must really push for. At the start yes we focussed on the top ten whilst we adjusted to the Honda but now we must arrive at another level. We have everything we need to achieve this.”

“Assen is another new track for me so my knowledge of the circuit is limited to what I have watched on TV and through the PlayStation game. From what I’ve seen, it looks like quite a fast flowing circuit, which is good for me. This type of layout suits my riding style, so I’m looking forward to getting out on track on Friday. Barcelona was a difficult weekend all-round but we learned a lot. At Assen we know we must improve our qualifying to have a better chance to fight for points. We have made another plan so we hope to do much better at this Grand Prix. For sure in this race my target is to collect points because for a few races now we haven’t taken any. We will work hard to make a good result and I will push hard from the start.”
