WITH the new year, new travel resolutions are inevitably made and what better way to be inspired for your next trip than by visiting the highly anticipated Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair.

A total of 1,367 booths will occupy seven halls, an increase from 1,356 booths compared with MATTA Fair last September, said MATTA chief executive officer Phua Tai Neng during MATTA’s booth selection and balloting process for the domestic hall at its headquarters on Friday.

Halls 1, 2, 3 and the linkway will feature 1,024 booths for international destinations while 257 booths for domestic travel will occupy Halls 4 and 5.
Hall 1M will be solely for umrah packages with 86 booths.

Apple Vacation takes up the biggest number of booths (48) for international destinations while Sabah Tourism, which was chosen as the favourite domestic destination, occupies 16 booths for domestic travel.

The event will also see participation from local and state tourism organisations such as Tourism Malaysia, Sarawak, Terengganu, Selangor and Pahang.

MATTA Fair debuted in 1991 and since 2001, the popular fair has been held twice a year.

The selection and balloting process for the international hall will be held tomorrow and on Jan 10.
