PD International Sand Challenge 2013 Asean’s First 4X4 Obstacle Race On Sand

The inaugural PD International Sand Challenge (PDISC) that was staged in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan in October 2012, is here for its second edition. PDISC is a 4X4 challenge on sand that is the first of its kind in the ASEAN region.  Dr. Zaini Shaarani, Course Director of PDISC, a veteran in Adventure Sports is convinced that this event would attract the region’s best off-roaders and would eventually be a key event for the sport in the region. This edition would see the participation of 10 foreign teams among the 30 that would be duelling on the sandy beaches of Port Dickson.

PDISC has been included into the Calendar Of Events 2013 of Negeri Sembilan and promoted by Tourism Malaysia Negeri Sembilan (TMNS) and Lembaga Pelancongan Negeri Sembilan (LPNS) under the patronage of Duli Yang Maha Mulia Yang di-Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan Darul Khusus, Tuanku Muhriz Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir. It will be staged in Port Dickson from 1^st to 3rd. March 2013. Thirty teams would compete in this year’s edition challenging for the Tuanku Muhriz Challenge Trophy. This annual event has been identified as a primary agenda in the Negeri Sembilan’s sports tourism calendar. This year PDISC has managed to attract Shell Refining Company (FOM) Bhd, Port Dickson to be the Title Sponsor. This will undoubtedly inject added value to the already unique event. Today at The Hotel Royal Bintang & Spa Seremban witness the cheque presentation ceremony from sponsors to the Patron, Yang di-Pertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir. This will then be followed by a press conference by representatives of X Four Sports, Tourism Malaysia Negeri Sembilan, Lembaga Pelancongan Negeri Sembilan and Shell Refining Company (FOM) Bhd.

PDISC would test participants in Port Dickson popular beaches. Pantai Cahaya Negeri, Pantai Saujana and Pantai Selesa which promises a challenging weekend of winching, handling, obstacles and fun. Supporting the main event are numerous side events from motorsports demos to motorsports products displays and sale. PDISC 2013 is a unique 4X4 challenge and is expected to be well received by both local and foreign visitors to Port Dickson the popular beach destination for local and international tourists. It promises excitement and would be a highly anticipated annual event for Port Dickson to both enthusiasts and fans alike in years to come.
