Walau bagaimanapun kata beliau, masih terlalu awal mengatakan industri pelancongan kembali sihat selepas menerima tamparan kuat daripada Perintah Kawalan Pergerakan (PKP) sejak dua tahun lalu.

Peralihan Sistem Pelesenan Industri Pelancongan (SPIP) Kepada Tourism Licensing And Enforcement System (TOURLIST)

i. Tarikh akhir semua permohonan lesen di SPIP seperti Lesen TOBTAB, Institut Latihan Pelancongan, Pemandu Pelancong, Bas Persiaran dan Kereta Sewa Pandu (Sabah, Sarawak dan Labuan) dan permohonan Pendaftaran Premis Penginapan Pelancongan adalah pada 30 September 2022;

ii.

iii. Bagi permohonan yang tidak berjaya atau tidak lengkap diproses tidak akan dimigrasi ke sistem TOURLIST, walau bagaimanapun, permohonan yang tidak lengkap diproses boleh membuat permohonan semula di sistem TOURLIST dan layak memohon tuntutan semula (refund) bayaran fi proses yang telah dibuat di SPIP;

iv.

Johor yakin terajui sektor pelancongan negara

Truly Malaysia Roadshow To Moscow, Tashkent, Almaty & Istanbul Reconnect Tourists To Malaysia

MOSCOW, 14 September 2022 – Tourism Malaysia through its overseas offices in Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Turkey is organising a Truly Malaysia Roadshow, taking place from 12th to 20th September 2022. The roadshow begins in Moscow, followed by Tashkent, Almaty, and Istanbul.

Led by Mr. Iskandar Mirza Mohd Yusof, Acting Deputy Director General (Planning) of Tourism Malaysia, the Malaysian delegation consists of travel operators, hoteliers, state tourism bodies, and educational tourism industry players. The roadshow provides a platform for both Malaysian sellers and local buyers to participate in business-to- business (B2B) sessions and product presentations to revive, reconnect and create new partnerships in enhancing opportunities to boost tourist arrivals to Malaysia.

“One of the biggest draws is Malaysia's racial and cultural diversity, resulting in a mixed yet harmonious legacy that manifests itself in our festivals, architecture, clothing, language, cuisine, and other aspects of daily life,” said Mr. Iskandar Mirza, during the first session in Moscow.

“While the past two years have been tremendously challenging for us, we are glad to share that Malaysia has surpassed our initial target of 2 million international tourist arrivals since the reopening of our international borders. We have since revised our target of welcoming 9.2 million international tourist arrivals with RM 26.8 billion in tourism receipts for this year,” he added.

Malaysia has relaxed the entry procedures for fully-vaccinated travellers without requirements to undergo quarantine or pre-departure and on-arrival COVID-19 tests. Travel insurance is also not a prerequisite for foreigners entering Malaysia, and inbound travellers no longer need to fill in the Traveler’s Card on the country’s contact tracing app, MySejahtera.

“Melaka merekodkan kehadiran pelancong seramai 2.48 juta orang setakat Jun lepas iaitu peningkatan sebanyak 234 peratus berbanding tempoh sama tahun lalu,” jelasnya.

Sabah tourism products to be promoted via Hello Sabah apps

KOTA KINABALU: Sri Pelancongan Sabah and Tourplus have inked a service agreement to develop a smartphone application known as Hello Sabah to serve as a digital platform for the state tourism industry.

Sri Pelancongan Sabah general manager Zachary Mobijohn and TourPlus Technology founder-cum-chief executive officer Rickson Goh signed the agreement at a hotel here.

The partnership will allow Hello Sabah to digitise the state tourism business, allowing local product owners and industry players from the public as well as private sectors to market their goods and services.

It features an online booking platform for rural tourism and community-based tourism, among others.

Zachary said Sri Pelancongan Sabah, a subsidiary of Sabah Tourism Board, played a role as a strategic partner in the development of the application that was set to promote Sabah's tourism industry by utilising Tourplus' advanced technology.

He said that the application aimed to register up to 100,000 merchants on the mobile application as its ultimate target.

"Merchants who are interested to be featured on this platform must pay a listing fee of RM300.

"However, in order to entice more merchants to take advantage of this platform, we will be waiving this listing fee to all merchants who sign up in 2022.

"On top of that, we will only be charging a minimum payment gateway fee of 2.12 per cent for the first 100 transactions. Normal commission rates will apply thereafter," added Zachary.

Sabah Assistant Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Joniston Bangkuai who witnessed the event said the Sabah Tourism Board would monitor the progress and success of the mobile application in achieving its purpose, including the promotion of rural tourism.

"The rural tourism sector has been through a lot of ups and downs since 2014 to get to where it is today, with some community-based tourism operators earning Asean and global standard recognition.

"We aspire to make our rural areas into world-class rural tourism destinations by 2030.

"To do so, we need to be able to provide a digital platform to present our rich culture, traditions, food, handicraft, and local community way of life to the world," he said.

Hybrid Seminar On Malaysia As A Muslim-Friendly Travel Destination, Preferred Medical Tourism Hub & My Second Home

TAIPEI, 7 September 2022 – The Malaysian Friendship and Trade Centre in Taipei together with Tourism Malaysia Taipei Office organised a hybrid seminar on three tourism-related topics targeted at the tourism industry players in Taiwan.

Held at The Howard Plaza Hotel Taipei on 7th September 2022, the seminar focused on promoting a better understanding of what Malaysia has to offer to the Taiwanese. Apart from being the top Muslim-friendly travel destination, Malaysia is also known for its medical tourism and its special Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme.

Ms. Sharon Ho, President of the Malaysian Friendship and Trade Centre together with Mr. David Tsao E-Shu, Deputy Director of the International Affairs Division of Taiwan Tourism Bureau attended the seminar and delivered their welcome remarks for the opening session.

Mr. Fitra Mohd Ali, Director (Covering) of Industry Development from Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC), was the first speaker on the topic: Malaysia as a Muslim-Friendly Travel Destination. He addressed that Malaysia was chosen as one of the top travel destinations for Muslim travellers by Mastercard-CrescentRating Global Muslim Travel (GMTI) 2022’s report, closely followed by Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Indonesia in joint 2nd position. Malaysia remained the top-ranked destination in the GMTI as it had been since the launch of the index in 2015. In 2019, Malaysia received 5.32 million arrivals of Muslim tourists with receipts of up to RM16.72 billion.

Malaysia possesses all the necessary components as a Muslim tourist destination with an abundance of halal food, prayer and washing facilities, family-friendly entertainment, and Muslim-friendly services together with Islamic attractions and tourism products. These features not only cater to the demands of Muslim visitors but also allow non-Muslim visitors to enjoy Malaysia's charms.

Over the years, there have been many ongoing collaborations and initiatives between ITC and industry players, including research, seminars, workshops, and industry development programmes, to build Malaysia's reputation in the global Islamic tourism industry.

The second topic was covered by Ms. Alice Ong, Director of North Asia Markets from Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) with the title: Forging Resilience for Malaysia’s Medical Tourism Especially for Post COVID-19 Economy Recovery. She stated that MHTC as an agency under the Ministry of Health in Malaysia was established to promote the Malaysian medical tourism sector by organising industry cooperation and establishing fruitful domestic and international public-private partnerships. In 2019, Malaysia received 1.22 million arrivals for healthcare travellers with RM1.7 billion in revenue.

Malaysia has won numerous awards for "Medical Travel Destination of the Year," which is acknowledged as Asia's centre for fertility and cardiology and is now referred to as the "Miracle of World Healthcare."

The final speaker was Peter Peng, Chief Operating Officer of Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) discussing the topic: Malaysia is a Perfect Country Not Only for Holiday, But Also Suitable for Other Business Purposes. He stated that the Malaysian government-sponsored scheme primarily enables foreigners who satisfy specific requirements to extend their stay in Malaysia with multiple-entry visas. No matter their race, religion, gender or age, residents of all nations recognised by Malaysia are eligible for the programme and participants are allowed to bring their spouses and unmarried children under the age of 21 as dependents.

Malaysia, as a multiracial and multilingual country, offers an abundance of family-friendly amenities for parents and kids including theme parks, jungle trails, sports, water sports, and international-standard golf courses. Besides that, Malaysia is also known for its shopping experience, from high-end couture to ethnic handicrafts and the internationally-acclaimed pewter ware. In addition, Malaysia offers affordable access to the best healthcare and top-notch education for international tourists and students. Until 2019, the total number of approved participants for MM2H programs is 48,471.

First aviation-themed lifestyle hub launches in Malaysia

The first aviation-themed lifestyle hub in Malaysia will feature a man-made beach and lagoon pool

Malaysia-based investment holding company Tiong Nam Group has unveiled plans for the first aviation-themed lifestyle hub in Malaysia, slated for completion in 4Q2023.

Located in Kempas, Johor Bahru, the hub will occupy over 19,000m² of the integrated township and feature the 1975 Avenue & Hotel.

Offering 38 keys, the all-suite cockpits and cabins will feature a 70s vintage, aviation-themed interior. Surrounding the hotel is a six-hectare project incorporating two redesigned Boeing 747s, as well as a man-made beach and the lagoon pool that weaves through the entire development.

F&B options will range from casual dining like cafés, bistros, buffet and family-friendly restaurants to pop-ups, international gourmet dining and themed dining. Other entertainment and activities will be revealed at a later date.

The hotel also features indoor and outdoor event spaces that are ideal for corporate travellers and event planners, as well as for social events.

Kenneth Perreau, general manager of 1975 Avenue & Hotel, is confident that the hotel will be able to “operate at a healthy occupancy in the first year of the hotel’s opening taking into consideration the integration, the connectivity, the market size and the authenticity of the extravagance experience we are offering”.

Tourism Malaysia Signs MOC With Qatar Airways To Strengthen Strategic Cooperation

KUALA LUMPUR, 1 September 2022 – Tourism Malaysia has signed a Memorandum of Collaboration (MOC) with Qatar Airways today at Grand Millennium Hotel, Kuala Lumpur with the primary objectives to extend the networking and strengthen strategic cooperation between the two parties.

This new chapter sees Tourism Malaysia working together with Qatar Airways, the world's leading airline, to boost arrival from Qatar via Qatar Airways' broad network to Malaysia. Through this MOC, the cooperation will aim to further strengthen Malaysia’s appeal as a preferred travel destination among travellers in the Middle East, Europe and the United States of America.

YB Dato’ Sri Hajah Nancy Shukri, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture said: “With the reopening of international borders and an increase in the demand for air travel, we believe the strategic cooperation will increase the awareness of our attractions and more initiatives will take place to help to boost tourist arrivals to Malaysia. As we continue to navigate recovery from the pandemic, this MOC works as a platform to increase the choice of flights, wider destinations, and greater flexibility on top of the excellent service hospitality offered by Qatar Airways”.

His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive said: “We are delighted to be working closely with Tourism Malaysia to further support tourism growth in the popular Southeast Asian country. As an airline, we are moulded strongly by tourism and we will remain committed to playing our role in supporting Tourism Malaysia through this collaboration. With international borders now open and travel demand returning, Qatar Airways also looks forward to connecting more travellers to Malaysia and the world.”

The collaboration between Tourism Malaysia and Qatar Airways will leverage each other’s strengths and provide more unrivalled services and seamless connections. More joint activities are mapped out through familiarisation trips to Malaysia, marketing promotional activities and advertising campaigns to feature Malaysia as a preferred holiday destination.

This strong partnership will provide better efficiencies and a more comprehensive network to promote Malaysia’s tourism offerings and highlight the new and exclusive attractions. On top of that, it is a timely move to pave the way toward the recovery of Malaysia’s tourism industry internationally.
