Petronas Sprinta Racing Wrap Up Successful Test At Sepang

Petronas Sprinta Racing riders Adam Norrodin and Ayumu Sasaki concluded their Sepang Test today, following an intense and productive three-day testing programme.

Taking full advantage of the Malaysian weather, both riders optimised the track time, completing over 140 laps each.

Feeling happy with bike set-up and positive about the season ahead, the team now prepare to return to Europe for the final pre-season test at Jerez, commencing in just over two weeks’ time.

Bike #7 – Adam Norrodin
Fastest lap: 2.14”246

Bike #71 – Ayumu Sasaki
Fastest lap: 2.13”535

Johan Stigefelt – Team Manager
“We’ve had a good test here in Malaysia at our home circuit. The weather and track conditions have been very good throughout the three days and we have got many things done. From the start of the test Ayumu was very fast and this helped us in getting the bike more accurate and to be able to give him a better set up. Adam took a bit longer to get down in times but in the end he was also doing very well and we found a good way for him too. Honda provided us with new parts for this season, so it’s been great to be able to test them here. Now we are ready for the final test at Jerez in a couple of weeks. We must say a big thanks to Sepang Circuit and all staff for their support during this test.”

#7 ADAM NORRODIN
“We’ve had a really busy and productive few days; we’ve done so much this test. The weather has been perfect, so we’ve been able to do a lot of laps. It’s been great to have the track to ourselves so thank you so much to Sepang Circuit for this! We have been focussing on our bike set-up and in particular the rear of the bike because last year this is what I struggled with; in the end we found something different which works well and has helped me quite a bit. I feel a lot more confident to go to the next and final pre-season test in Jerez.”

#71 AYUMU SASAKI
“From the beginning of this test I have had a really good feeling on the bike and could push myself from the start. We’ve done a lot these three days, made many changes, tried new things and now we leave here with a very good set-up, which is completely different to last years race here. I think with this new setting we are much better and can be much stronger. We are more consistent and with good lap times alone. I think we have made a couple of big steps here. I can’t wait to ride in Jerez now!”
