Distributing CNY Traffic : PLUS Offers 20 Percent Toll Rebate, Issues Travel Time Advisory

PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) estimates about 1.6 million vehicles will use the North-South Expressway on every peak day during the Chinese New Year holiday, an increase of 10.3 percent as compared to normal days.

"As part of an effort to reduce congestion on peak days, PLUS has identified a few measures to help distribute traffic on highway by offering toll rebate during selected non-peak days and issuing a Travel Time Advisory (TTA)," said PLUS Managing Director, Datuk Azman Ismail.

The toll rebate is offered to Class 1 highway users with registered PLUSMiles or Touch 'n Go cards via PLUSMiles portal travelling more than 100 kilometres during 4 non-peak days which are on 12,13, 20 and 21 February.

"The 20 percent toll rebate for transactions via PLUSMiles cards is aimed at distributing traffic and rewarding registered PLUSMiles and Touch 'n Go cardholders for their continuous support," said PLUS Managing Director, Datuk Azman Ismail.

On the designated dates, highway users are still required to pay toll in full. The 20 percent toll rebates (in a form of toll reloads) can be reloaded into their registered PLUSMiles or Touch 'n Go cards when they top-up their cards at all PLUS customer service centres from 15 March until 14 June 2018.

As such, Azman advises PLUSMiles or Touch 'n Go cardholders to register their cards via PLUSMiles portal at www.plusmiles.com.my to enjoy the rebate.

The toll rebate, however, does not apply for toll payments at Bangunan Sultan Iskandar, Tanjung Kupang and Penang Bridge Toll Plazas.

TTA Prevents Traffic Entering The Highway At The Same Time
Apart from the toll rebate, PLUS is also issuing a Travel Time Advisory (TTA) to help public to plan their journey and distribute the traffic during the upcoming festive season.

According to Azman, "The TTA, which caters for highway travel from 9 February to 25 February, is aimed at distributing the traffic and prevents the vehicles from converging on the highway at the same time as it can contribute to congestion and delays."

Based on the TTA, highway users from Klang Valley heading towards further destinations such as Johor, Perlis, Kedah, Penang dan North Perak are advised to enter the highway before 10.00 am.

For those heading towards nearer locations such as Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Central Perak and South Perak, they are advised to enter the highway after 10.00 am.

"The TTA is designed to prevent traffic heading towards further destinations from converging with those heading to nearer ones," Azman explained.
