Tasty treats: Tourists enjoying the local food at the Gurney Drive food court.

GEORGE TOWN: Gurney Drive made it to the 13th spot on the list of ‘25 best streets for tourists to visit around the world before you die’, according to a popular Australian travel website.
The Australian website Traveller stated that the seafront promenade in Penang offered some of the best street food in all of Asia.
The website then cited the 100-over stalls at the Gurney Drive Hawker Centre that have been operating from the 70s.
A link was then attached to the website’s page dedicated to the state.
Traveller is said to provide the best travel advice and comprehensive destination guides for Austra-lian tourists.
Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said the new recognition would boost the the state government’s effort to develop Penang’s potential as a world-class tourist destination.
“This recognition comes after Penang was named by CNN Travel as one of the 17 best places to visit in 2017,” he said in a press conference held at Komtar yesterday.
Other popular Asian destinations that made it on the Australian website’s list were Khao San Road in Bangkok and Hollywood Road in Hong Kong.
