70 tour guides take crash course to learn more about Perak

IPOH: The next time you visit Perak, you might want to try its popia, pasembor and take a ride on trishaw for a tour of the city.

These are just some of the many attractions available in the state. In an effort to further promote Perak tourism products, various programmes, which include tourism education were organised as Visit Perak 2017 draws near.

A total of 70 tour guides from Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Johor participated in the two-day programme held Hotel Kinta Riverfront. Perak Tour Guide Association chairman Roselyn Lim said the programme, which ends tomorrow, was aimed at promoting the unique attractions in the silver state in hopes to attract more visitors for next year's tourism campaign.

"Apart from the beautiful landscape and nature, Perak has a lot more to offer especially food and crafts. "For instance, not many people know that Perak is also known for its own popia (spring roll) and pasembor as well as its new attraction of trishaw rides in Ipoh. "The programme, which focused on educating the new tour guides, was organised for the second time.

It was also to promote other tourism products like Labu Sayong in Kuala Kangsar," she said in a press conference after the launch of the programme today. She said apart from visiting tourist sites in the state, the participants would also learn how to make popia and pasembor.
