Mega carnival to net RM20mil in sales

JOHOR BARU: The inaugural Mega Sale Carnival is set to attract over 300,000 foreign and local visitors and rake in some RM20mil in sales.

Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar would be officiating the event, the first of its kind and the largest indoor carnival ever in the country.

State Tourism, Domestic Trade and Consumerism committee chairman Datuk Tee Siew Kiong said some 300 exhibitors offering almost 1,000 products and services at over 500 booths are taking part in the five-day carnival which started yesterday and will end on Sunday.

He said that the products and services cover 11 clusters including furniture and home appliances, automotive, other appliances, apparel and shoes, food and beverage, books and magazines, healthcare and beauty as well as various services.


“The carnival will bring factory operators, traders, small and medium entrepreneurs, online traders, franchisers, cooperatives, vendors and hypermarkets under one roof.

“Visitors will benefit with discounts of up to 70%,” he said after a walkabout in the carnival area.

Tee added that among popular brands participating include Aeon Co, Aeon Big, Tesco, Giant, Econsave, Ford, Harley-Davidson, Proton, Perodua, Toyota, Yakult, Go Pro, Karangkraf, Celcom, Maxis, TM, Petronas and Petron.

He also said that visitors can catch a glimpse and snap photos with Sultan Ibrahim’s much talked about Mack truck besides standing a chance to take home a Perodua Bezza with a minimum purchase of RM30.

The carnival is organised by the Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism Ministry.

It is open from 10am and 10pm and is being held at Angsana Johor Baru Mall here.
