MELAKA, July 8 (Bernama) -- Durian lovers can savour the "king of fruits" at the three-day Melaka Durian Festival 2015, to be held at the Melaka Tropical Fruit Farm (MTFF) in Sungai Udang, here beginning July 24.
The State Exco for Agriculture and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Hasan Rahman said the event, which starts at 10 am, was also expected to draw over 30,000 visitors.
He said the fest was aimed at promoting the various variety of durians to local and foreign tourists.
"There will be Melaka's local durians as well as durians from outside the state, to be savoured at the festival," he told reporters at MTFF here.
Hasan said besides feasting to their heart's content on various types of durian, visitors could also savour durian-based food products such as durian ice cream, putu bambu durian, cendol durian and many more.
He said several other activities had also been lined up for the festival including durian eating contest, guessing the weight of durian, 'Selfie: Syoknya Pesta Durian Melaka' competition and cooking competition.
He said the inaugural event would become another tourism product for Melaka and would be made an annual event for the state.
