BMW Malaysia Tennis Open 2015 Will Put Malaysia On World Sporting Map

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 8 (Bernama) -- The BMW Malaysian Tennis Open 2015 to be held from March 2-8 at the Royal Selangor Golf Club (RSGC) is expected to put Malaysia on the map as a host of world class tennis tournaments.

Tournament director Keld Kristiansen said the US$250,000 (RM885,250) tournament has grown annually in terms of spectators, media coverage, visitors and return on investment (ROI) for the country.

"It is now one of the cornerstones of the Malaysian calendar. Hosting an international event not only give good ROI in terms of exposure and number of visitors but also offers a concrete development platform for Malaysian sports, " he said in a statement today.

Carbon Sports Sdn Bhd is the promoter of the tournament which has been sanctioned by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA). Kristiansen is also Carbon Sports Sdn Bhd executive chairman.

Malaysia will be represented by Jawairiah Noordin,24, who secured a place in the main draw after winning the BMW National Circuit Masters at the National Tennis Centre in Jalan Duta in Nov last year.

"This year, we are focused on providing the public with good access, great entertainment, and a broader insight into the sport of tennis," Kristiansen added. The 2015 line-up will be announced soon and spectators can expect to be rewarded with thrilling fixtures.

Admission is free from Feb 28-March 4. Spectators have to buy tickets priced at RM33, RM53, RM63 and RM73 to watch the main draw from March 5- 8th. Season passes are priced at RM153 and early bird discounts are available before Feb 28 and an on-site box office will commence on the same day.
