Missing Japanese divers found

KUCHING: Three divers, who went missing Saturday when exploring the frame of a Karoti Maru littoral combat ship used during World War II, have been found. The three, including two Japanese and a local, were reported missing after diving about 17 nautical miles off Santubong.

Kuching police chief ACP Mun Kok Keong said on Sunday the last victim, Hisashi Koze, was found on the beach of the Damai Puri Resort. "Koze managed to swim ashore," he said.

Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) had on Saturday afternoon rescued Satoo Makoto and Chai Teck Hua not far from where they were diving. Karotai Maru sunk during the World War II. The ship's frame is among the most popular diving locations in Santubong waters.
