Perak to paint town white

IPOH: Heritage buildings in the city will be painted with one colour – white – to reflect its identity soon. State Tourism Committee chairman Datuk Hamidah Osman said a single colour would make it easier for the public to recognise heritage buildings in the city. “We are having discussions with building owners to seek their permission,” she said in an interview.

Hamidah said the state government would provide some allocation and was negotiating with several paint producers to get the best quotation. She said the project would take off this year and that building owners would not have pay any money.

On another matter, Hamidah said the state would organise a travel exhibition in Penang, Pahang and Johor this year to promote Perak’s tourist attractions. She said the state would participate in a travel fair in Singapore and London in October and November respectively.
