KUALA LUMPUR: AirAsia X has introduced its latest international route — from Kuala Lumpur to Christchurch, New Zealand — starting April 1. There will be four non-stop weekly flights. To mark the new route, an all-in fare from as low as RM199 one way from Kuala Lumpur to Christchurch has been introduced for the booking period starting Friday to Sunday. It is for the travel period from April 1 to Nov 10.
AirAsia X founder and AirAsia group chief executive officer Datuk Seri Dr Tony Fernandes said he was pleased with the new service, adding that 2010 had been a busy year for AirAsia X with the launch of six new destinations in India, Korea, Japan, Iran and France. Speaking at a press conference yesterday, he said the 13-hour flight between Kuala Lumpur and Christchurch would stimulate new travel demands and allow New Zealanders to use Kuala Lumpur as a gateway to South-East Asian countries.
